Young Conductors Masterclass

This Young Conductors Masterclass is designed for young musicians who are interested in conducting orchestral music and who wish to create an opportunity as an orchestral conductor.

The Masterclass includes:
– Under the guidance of Dr Koo to develop the techniques of score reading and analysis: structure, harmony, orchestration
– Participating in the Sydney Hills Youth Orchestra rehearsals for two school terms;
– Under the guidance of Dr Koo to conduct a piece of music.
– Conducting the piece of music in the concert at the end of term 2 or term 4.

Eligibility criteria:

Applicants must be:

– under 30 years of age.
– currently studying music at a tertiary institute in Sydney.

Priority will be given to those with conducting experience.
Opportunity to conduct the SCO Youth Symphony or Western Sydney Symphony Orchestra in the future.

Fee: $2000 per term.
